As many of us have learned and grown up at our own pace, I can defiantly tell you I notice the difference between how people act in person, and via the web. I think in these times, where social networking has become the key for interaction between people, and ways we get our news, there is a devastating difference between how people act in person and when they are talking on sites via facebook. Now there are people, who either don't have any self confidence or are just out for attention. Oh you know what im talking about...the people who take racy pictures and publish them for the world to see, or the flip side, where people use the internet to bully others and not have to "deal" with the consequences they would face if the bullying had been done in person. Now im not going to get into specifics, but im sure 100% of you reading this have known or heard of someone who took their life, or the lives of others because of threats, comments, or blatant insults. Honestly it makes me sick, and feel guilty if im on facebook and I see someone mocking or bullying others for everyone to see, and I don't step in and say something. The hardest part in online bullying is actually stepping in and saying something to the bully, or talking to someone else like a parent, or someone older and in a position to step in without bias. Now that might sound really childish and dumb, but what is dumb about potentially saving someone, or lots of peoples lives because you stood up to a bully? NOTHING is DUMB about that! Next time you see bullying or some sort of mockery on facebook, maybe you could take a minute and decide whether or not you want to be the bigger person and stand up for someone you know, or maybe a stranger. Who knows, you might become friends, you might loose some friends, but its not worth waiting until something bad actually happens.
